What We Believe

Carismah Church belongs to the historic, Reformed Christian tradition. We confess the authority of the Holy Scriptures, the centrality of Jesus Christ, the sovereignty of God's grace, and the transforming work of the Holy Spirit.

The Scriptures

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the final authority for our faith, doctrine, and life.

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.”

— 2 Timothy 3:16

Because Scripture is God's own breathed-out Word, it carries His authority. The Reformed Christian tradition reads the whole canon as one unified, self-interpreting story that finds its center and fulfillment in Jesus Christ.

God

We believe in one God who exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.”

— Deuteronomy 6:4

The one true God is triune. This is not a contradiction but the deepest reality of God's eternal life of love, into which He graciously draws His people.

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is true God and true man, who died for our sins, rose bodily, reigns as Lord, and will return to consummate His Kingdom.

“For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily.”

— Colossians 2:9

In Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man, God Himself accomplishes our salvation. His perfect obedience, atoning death, and bodily resurrection are the ground of our hope.

Salvation

We believe salvation is the work of God's sovereign grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ and not as a result of human merit.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.”

— Ephesians 2:8

Salvation is God's gift from beginning to end. Grace precedes and produces faith, so that no one can boast—all glory belongs to God alone.

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit regenerates, sanctifies, comforts, equips, and guides the Church to live and serve according to God's will.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness.”

— Galatians 5:22

The Spirit applies Jesus Christ's saving work to us, giving new birth and progressively conforming us to His likeness for a life of obedient gratitude.

The Church

We believe the Church is the covenant people of God, called to worship, make disciples, proclaim the gospel, administer the sacraments, practice mercy, and serve the world.

“And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.”

— Acts 2:42

The Church is not a building but God's covenant community, gathered around Word and sacrament and scattered in mission to bless the world.

The Christian Life

We believe true faith produces obedience, gratitude, service, justice, reconciliation, holiness, and love of neighbor.

“Faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.”

— James 2:17

Good works do not earn salvation; they flow from it. A living faith inevitably bears the fruit of grateful obedience and love.

The Sacraments: The Lord's Supper

We believe the Lord's Supper, the first of the two sacraments we observe, is a visible sign and seal of the gospel in which believers commune with the risen Jesus Christ by faith. We celebrate it on the first Sunday of every month.

“This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”

— 1 Corinthians 11:24

The Supper is not a mere memorial nor a re-sacrifice of Christ; by the Spirit, believers truly feed on Christ by faith, are strengthened in grace, and proclaim His death until He comes.

The Sacraments: Baptism

We believe baptism is the second sacrament—a sign and seal of the new covenant that marks a believer's union with Jesus Christ and entrance into His covenant people.

“Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.”

— Acts 2:38

Baptism does not save by itself; it points to the cleansing from sin and new life found in Jesus Christ alone, received by grace through faith, and calls the baptized to a life of discipleship.
