Baptism
A sign and seal of the new covenant.
Baptism is one of the two sacraments instituted by Jesus Christ. In the Reformed Christian tradition it is a visible sign and seal of God's covenant of grace—a public confession that we belong to Jesus Christ, that our sins are washed away by His blood, and that we are united to Him in His death and resurrection.
“Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
— Acts 2:38
A sign of the new covenant
Baptism marks our entrance into the visible covenant community and points to the washing away of sin and new life in Jesus Christ.
A seal of grace
It confirms God's promises to us—not because water saves, but because it points us to Christ, in whom alone salvation is found.
Union with Christ
In baptism we are publicly identified with Jesus Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection (Romans 6:3-4).
A call to discipleship
Baptism is the beginning of a life of following Jesus Christ within His church, growing in faith and obedience.
Preparing for baptism
If you have come to faith in Jesus Christ and have not yet been baptized as a believer, we would be honored to walk with you. Baptism follows a credible profession of faith—a sincere trust in Christ and a desire to follow Him.
Profess your faith
Baptism follows repentance and faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
Examine your heart
Consider whether you are trusting Christ alone and are ready to publicly identify with Him.
